Short program: “The Matadors”

You are ready to face your opponent. You straighten your collars. A red muleta rests in your arms. Upon entering the arena, the ground is thundering with the noise of the audience. But you are completely calm. With a swing of the muleta you show you’re ready to dance with death. The arena doors open, your opponent has arrived. A provoked and powerful bull approaches. Eyes meet. Both know the one that leaves the arena will be the winner.

Free program: “Suomi 100”

Blue and white – the colors of liberty.

With the music of Sibelius, we tell a story of the journey from oppression to freedom. The story of how Finland became independent. Skating the program to music by our national composer Jean Sibelius, we honor those who helped Finnish become what it is today. We will go through the many feelings that our nation has felt throughout the past 100 years: oppression, pride – and ultimately, the joy of freedom.  At the end of the program, we stand strong with pride on behalf of those who have fought for this country. This is a tribute to a 100-year-old Finland and the celebration of its independence.

♫ This is my song, O God of all the nations,
A song of peace for lands afar and mine.
This is my home, the country where my heart is,
Here are my hopes, my dreams, my holy shrine… ♫
